Bring Logistics, a leading third-party logistics provider in the Nordics, has automated its Skedsmo Logistics Centre in Bergen, near Oslo, with the help from Kollmorgen’s partner Rocla. The 32,000 m² facility now operates with nine Rocla very narrow aisle automated guided vehicles (VNA AGVs), each equipped with Kollmorgen technology.
Precision in Every Movement
The AGVs manage all pallet movements within the racking area, which holds 81,200 pallet spaces stacked up to 10.65 meters high. The AGVs can lift up to 1,000 kg and transport 200 pallets per hour. Loads are picked up and dropped off at conveyors, ensuring a smooth and consistent flow.
Reliable Navigation in Tight Spaces
To further ensure an efficient flow, laser navigation is used in the master aisle, while inductive wire navigation ensures precise movement in the narrow aisles. This multi-method navigation enables dependable performance in complex environments.
Safety and Sustainability Gains
Automating the pallet handling process has significantly improved safety and reduced operational costs. The AGVs operate consistently, minimizing the risk of incorrect load handling and accidents. With fewer personnel required in the racking area, energy consumption is also reduced, as less lighting and climate control are needed compared to manually operated zones.
Fast Delivery, Quick Return on Investment
Rocla’s modular design and use of standard components shortened delivery time compared to traditional automation projects. The investment has already paid off, with a return on investment achieved in under two years.
