Servo Motor Parameters and Their Proper Conversions for Servo Drive Utilization and Comparison

Many mechanical engineers have experienced the frustration of testing their prototype, only to discover that the motion system doesn’t perform as intended. Often, the root cause of the problem is a failure to correctly convert the motor’s published servo motor parameters into the units of measure required for optimum servo drive utilization.

Because there are no standardized methods for consistent publication of motor data, engineers need guidance for performing correct motor parameter conversions, regardless of any manufacturer’s specific practices. This white paper shows you how to understand servo motor parameters and convert them correctly to meet your specific application requirements, no matter what motor and drive combination you specify.
