KAS IDE Crashes Due to Faulty Graphics Driver

Several crashes of the KAS IDE have been traced back to a faulty graphics driver on the host PC. The crash happens when opening any KAS project.
The only way to determine if the crash is due to the graphics driver is to analyze the crash dump file. The stack in the crash analysis will contain the following DLLs:

• SoftScopeTool
• QtOpenGL4
• opengl32
• ig75icd32

By far the easiest way to analyze the crash is to report the crash using the KAS automated crash report system that the user is prompted with after a crash occurs. When filling the report out please provide an e-mail address so that we can get back to you.

So far the crashes have occurred when using Intel graphics cards.

If there is only one GPU in the computer, then try updating the graphics driver. If that does not fix the problem, then the only recourse is to add a new graphics card.

If there are multiple GPUs, then there may be an option to run KAS programs with a specific GPU. For nVidia cards, this is done in the nVidia Control Panel.
