S200 Respin Parameters to Replace Prior Logic Versions - Hardware Rev C.

The S200 updated boards use a larger FPGA with multiple feedback and filter options. Two new parameters have been introduced to select/set these options. These parameters allow the updated boards to use a single FPGA control logic release (LogicVer = 4/VerLW = 4.xx) to replace multiple control logic versions used in original S200 units with old FPGA (LogicVer = 3/VerLW = 3.xx) up to 2021.

The two new parameters are FbType, which selects between SFD, BiSSB, BiSSC, EnDAT2.2, Tamagawa), and FilterType, which selects between original single pole ARfx style velocity loop filters or newer BiQuad filters. Setting the parameters per the table below will match the corresponding original version’s functionality.

Notes

  1. In the updated boards, six step (Hall) feedback is a special case. The CommMode parameter can be set to  6-step only when FbType is set to SFD.
  2. The FbType parameter controls only the base board feedback connector (which supports only digital serial feedback types). The option card may offer Aux feedback options independent of the FbType parameter.

Setting FbType via S200 Tools

  1. Launch S200 Tools on your host computer and connect to the S200 drive.
    • If you are using a serial connection, attach the serial cable from PC COM port to S200 J5.
    • If you are using a fieldbus, for example SynqNet, initialize the network.
  2. If you are using a serial connection, you may need to select the COM port.
    • If you are using a fieldbus, select the drive to configure.
For example in SynqNet, use the top center pulldowns to select controller and node.

  3. In the S200 Tools window, select the “Drive Setup” feature on the left, “Control Mode” pane top right, then the Feedback Type pulldown. Choose the desired base board feedback type.

  5. Power-cycle the S200 Drive to ensure the new NV values are active.

Setting FilterType via S200 Tools
