DOS boot disk - How to run PACCOM on a Windows 2000 or XP computer

How do you run PACCOM in Windows 2000 or Windows XP?

PACCOM cannot be run from within Windows 2000 or Windows XP. 

You have to boot directly into DOS for the PACCOM software to work correctly. 

If you have a floppy disk drive you can do the following:

1 Insert a floppy disk in the A drive
2. Go to windows explorer and right-clicking on the A: drive icon
3. Click the format menu item
4. Check the box that reads "create an MS-DOS startup disk"
5. Click the start button
6. save the PACCOM program and its support files onto the same floppy
7. save your program on the same floppy
8. restart your computer with this floppy inserted into the A drive
9. type "PACCOM" at the A prompt

Now you should be in the PACCOM software and everything should work the way it is supposed to.

An alternative to using a boot disk is to use a true DOS emulator, such as DOS-Box.
