AKD Maximum Commutation Frequency
Maximum FW commanded speed is 15,000 RPM.
Maximum commutation frequency is set by PWM frequency and/or position feedback device sampling frequency.
- Motor electrical frequency is < (PWM frequency)/10
- Motor electrical frequency is < (Feedback sample frequency)/20
Currently for analog AKDs, A quad B digital feedbacks sample at MHz. All digital similiar to Renishaw BiSS C and Hiperface DSL at 16 kHz. SFD samples at 19.5 kHz.
These rules limit maximum motor electrical frequency to 800 or 1000 Hz depending on AKD model, shown below. Note these rules are based on analog characteristics that degrade slowly. For example, an AKD MV3 at 1200 Hz would work but less well than at 1000 Hz because the motor current waveform becomes more distorted and more acoustic noise would be present.
