NEW FEATURES/CHANGES
Service Pack 1
- An error will be returned if more than 64 sockets are attempted to be
created.
- The status application recognizes Windows XP fast user switching and
will display a warning to the user if another instance is running
- If a second local instance of the status application is started, the
first instance will display its dialog and the second instance will exit.
Ladder Scan Control
- The status program contains a new button to allow the user to stop and warm start the ladder scan.
Windows XP
- PiCPro V13.0 has been tested on a limited basis under Windows XP. No major problems have been found.
- We do not recommend using 'switch user' when logging off of Windows XP if any PiCPro applications are active.
SOFTWARE NOTES
For an MMC for PC Controller minimum system requirements are:
- A 133 MHz Pentium processor with Windows 2000, 64 MB of RAM, minimum;
128 MB of RAM recommended
- A 233 MHz Pentium processor with Windows XP (Professional or Home Edition),
128 MB of RAM minimum
- VGA or higher resolution display adapter (Super VGA needed for Windows XP)
KNOWN PROBLEMS AND WORK AROUNDS
- MMC for PC is not compatible with Novell IP Gateway protocol.
Novell IP Gatway protocol should be removed.
INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE
This installation installs the software required to support the MMC for PC
hardware on Windows 2000/XP. These programs include the driver, Socket Server,
and a status program, which allow you to view the basic functions and settings
of the hardware.
The following steps install the software.
- Make sure the MMC for PC board is installed in the PC.
- Power on the PC.
- Log in as a user with administrator privileges.
- A 'Found New Hardware Wizard' will appear. Click on the 'Cancel' button.
- Install the software by executing Setup.exe program on the installation
media. (This may run automatically after inserting the CD.) Double click on
'Install MMC for PC Support Software' and follow the installer instructions.
- If successful, the PC must be rebooted to complete the installation.
- Click on the MMC for PC status icon in the status area of the taskbar (by
the clock). The display will indicate whether the hardware is connected or
not.
REMOVING THE SOFTWARE
The following steps remove the software:
- Go to Windows Control Panel and choose 'Add/Remove Programs'.
- Select 'MMC for PC Support Software', and click the Change/Remove button.
Follow the uninstaller instructions.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- In BIOS, there may be a setting to indicate if the OS is plug and play
compatible. Set this to YES for Windows 2000/XP.
- If there are problems, try entering BIOS setup and turn off all interrupts
for the PCI slot the 'MMC for PC' board is plugged in to.
