WorkBench Failed to Open and Connect to AKD

Trying to connect WorkBench v1.16.0.41 running on a virtual machine with IP address 172.27.1.213 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0 to my AKD-P00606-NBEI drive with IP address 172.27.2.60 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0.  WorkBench has found the devices, but never completes the connection.  When I check "Specify Address" I get the same result.  and same result when trying to connect direct to the drive via simple unmanaged switch.  The AKD scrolls the correct IP address and runs fine.

Ping works fine, with 1ms reply.  tracert shows a direct connection.  arp -a shows the correct MAC. 

The About page on WorkBench shows the correct system IP, but also shows IP 127.0.0.1.
