The temperature rating of material is another item typically determined by the environment. Each material type has its own limitations for operating temperature range. The actual rating is defined as the allowable conductor temperature the insulation can safely withstand.
The NEC handbook has a limited range of specific temperature categories listed in its tables. A recommended insulation temperature rating is 80º C. NEC tables include 60°C-90ºC for 0-2000V . This is chosen due to the fact that typical materials have this rating. Also type MTW and THHN types have this rating. A higher temperature rating is indicative of a modified TPR (Thermoset Plastic Resin) type material or complex polymer.
A recommended insulation temperature rating is 80º C, following EN 60204.
