Profibus Option Card Labels:

The Profibus option card for the S300 and S700 is labeled "Proibus DP".  (OPTION = H0Cxx)

The Profibus option card for the S600 is labeled "Profibus".  (OPTION = H02xx)

The two option cards are not interchangeable between the S300/S700 and S600 drives.

There is an undocumented parameter in the S300, SOFTIN. Bit 0 of this variable is for input 5, bit 1 for input 6,..., . If you set SOFTIN = 1, IN5 will return 1.
To operate the brake set IN5MODE = 32.
With SOFTIN = 1 the (virtual) input 5 is activated and the brake opens.

The parameter SOFTIN is DPR object number 78 or Profibus PNU 1678. That allows you to operate the brake via DeviceNet or Profibus. Remember for For PNU 1678 set IND = 1.

Profibus Communication Rate and Bandwidth

 

The update rate of the Profibus communications is set in the Profibus master controller.  The GSD file of the drive allows a minimum time of 2ms.

The Profibus master will send the complete telegram every cycle: 4 words (parameter channel) plus 6 words (process data channel).  It does not necessarily change the data every cycle.  So, the cycle includes 10 words Output and 10 words Input, totaling 160 bits per transmission cycle.

 

Multi-Fieldbus is the ability of Kollmorgen servo amplifiers to communicate with a lot of different fieldbus systems. These bus systems are accessible either with option cards, firmware variants or device variants.
