P7000 stepper drive - X-smoothness feature - Probe on the unloaded motor
Setting up the P7000 in the tools software, the X-Smoothness feature requires user to run motor unloaded. My motor is connected to an off the shelf XY stage stacked on top of each other. Is the stage with the coupling and shaft connected considered the "load"? This would be the min load of the setup before adding additional load (6.5kg) on the stage to run. Or is it required to run the motor with nothing connected to the shaft to get the X-Smoothness numbers?

"Unloaded" is defined as the motor shaft not connected to any device/mechanism, "the driven load".
The P7000 Tools manual states that the "X-Smoothness" is to be conducted with the motor unloaded, the shaft uncoupled from the load.
The three (3) tests to be conducted are to be done at different frequencies. Each frequency is to be calculated depending on the tooth count of the stepper motor, Torque max, and the motor's inertia. (All Kollmorgen/Pac-Sci stepper motors have a tooth count of 50. If this it not our motor, please obtain the required data from the OEM.)
