EEO - Analog control position loop

In an analog control position loop, feedback position is reading using an external encoder, that is mounted at rear side of servo motor, the servo motor shaft is extend out of servo motor

Encoder is leine linde brand part number 51841501 RSI 503, the controller is connected over rs25 port to external encoder, so pulse voltage  is supplied by controller at 5 DC TTL,  see illustration, and wiring attached file pdf

ACTUAL LOOP POSITION

We are going to replace servo motor and amplifier, i want to review if we can provide encoder signal to axis controller from AKD (E.E.O.),   if this case is possible,

How can i make that connection between axis controller and AKD x9 port??

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEND EMULATED ENCODER OUTPUT FROM AKD’S X9 PORT TO AXIS CONTROLLER INSTEAD OF EXTERNAL ENCODER?

csv file not allowed

Yes, you can take the AKD drive's EEO from X9 to the controller for position feedback and the encoder from the motor to the AKD for the primary feedback on X10.  Due to the encoder not having hall sensors or data communication channels, the AKD drive will have to run a wake and shake routine to figure out the commutation alignment of the motor every time the +24 volt logic is cycled on the AKD drive.

let me ask in other way.. i want to remove external encoder,.

the analog axis controller provide 5vdc to encoder ( pins 8 & 25 port db25), and read pulses A,B and Z

.Port x9 form instalations manual 9.13.2.1 provide 5dvc too,

how can i wire analog axis crontroller port db25 to akd x9 in order to send pulses to controller from AKD EEO?

i mid booth ports provide 5 vdc

The resolution of the encoder is 250 ppr which is extremely low, it is going to make it really difficult to tuning the AKD, if you operating it in analog velocity. This is due to quantization errors caused by the low feedback  feedback resolution.

i'm working with 500 PPR and seems working well, please see data at CSV file,.

Did you consider replacing the existing controller with an AKD-PDMM, which will be the controller AND a drive for 1 axis (combined)?  It can easily command two (2) other AKD drives.    Contact your local distributor for details / available options if interested.

MIchael, we are fixing a paper convertting machine 16 axis total, but customer wants a smooth transition,. axis per axis, keeping controller, and then change to PCMM at the last part of project

You will connect the A, B and Z signals as listed on the controller.  You should also connect the ground "5 volt return"  of the controller to  Pin 3 GND on the X9 connector.  This will put the controller and the AKD EEO output signals at same reference point.    Sometimes on the older controllers you have to also add terminating resistors across A, /A, B, /B and Z, /Z  channels  at the controller inputs to lower the impedance of the input circuit of the controller.   The terminating resistors normally range from 240 to 150 ohms.

Can i plot A,B and Z channels of E.E.O. 's using workBench Software ?

how can i read actual values for A,B and Z channels of EEO?
