AKD w/Profinet F-702 faults | 17 Jun 2016 | |

AKD w/Profinet F-702 faults

I have a customer that is experiencing F-702 faults approximately every hour with their AKD over Profinet to a Siemens S7-1500 PLC. The PLC reports a I/O device failure at the same time. From the PLC diagnostics it seems as though the drive is not responding. Again, this is intermittent. Most of the time the drive and PLC are working fine. There isn't much help in the manual for this fault other than to check the settings and cables. Teh cables are shielded and good. There really aren't too many settings in the drive so I am at a loss.

Any ideas?

Please make sure that the baud rate is set to 16ms.  And faster and it will over run the communications in the drive and give you an F702.  Also make sure the cable is not getting unplugged or having an intermittent connection.

On some PLC's, the baud rate setting needs to be 16ms and set to Automatic.  If it is set to "manual" on those PLC's, it can have a problem where the PL will not connect to the drive if the drive were to power up after the PLC has initially tried to connect.  Siemens S7-300 series is this way.

There is a communication lag between myself and the customer but I will pass this along and provide feedback. Thanks you.
