AKD Lagging Master Drive

Hi all,

We're using two AKD's connected by X9 encoder emulation. Each AKD controls a linear motor. The motors are mechanically coupled by clamping our product. Unfortunately, the slave drive is lagging behind a few mm. This seems to be the result of delayed acceleration of the slave drive. The slave drive speed and acceleration limits are set to double the value of the master drive.

I suspect the drives are not optimally tuned, but I know next to nothing about this process. Can anyone advise me on what to do?

Regards,

Han

What you are stating sounds exactly like there is a need for tuning of the current, velocity and position loops within one (1) or more drives.  They MAY HAVE been tuned initially, but as the machine wears, the slave drive is failing for closely follow the master.
