Kollmorgen to Exhibit Industry-Leading Motion Packaging and Hygienic Solutions at PACK EXPO 2016

Visitors to Booth N-5908 can see products in action, learn about the latest enhancements and discuss applications with Kollmorgen experts

RADFORD, VA – October 14, 2016 – Kollmorgen will exhibit its innovative motion solutions at Pack Expo, November 6 - 9, 2016, at McCormick Place in Chicago. Visitors to booth N-5908 can expect to see demonstrations of Kollmorgen’s hygienic solutions for food and beverage manufacturers, and learn how they can reduce the risk of food recall and cleaning time while increasing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Kollmorgen will also feature its complete and interoperable packaging solutions, including mechatronic systems, wash-down capable motors, decentralized drives, high-performance communications options and integrated development tools.

Highlighted products will include:

  • AKMH™ Hygienic Servo Motors have set new standards for reliability in wash-down and hygienic design. In addition to reducing the risk of food recall, the AKMH eliminates the need for covers to protect motors and bagging during wash-down. The motor’s IP69K construction and rugged, corrosion-resistant materials withstand even the most rigorous wash-down regimens.
  • PMX™ Series Stepper Motors are highly accurate, reliable and flexible with a wide range of frame sizes (08, 11, 14, 17, 23 and 34). Cost-effective PMX stepper motors support a broad range of OEM applications from a single motion with seamless co-engineering capabilities including customizing shafts, encoders and gearboxes.
  • AKD®-N is a multi-axis servo system with a central power supply and IP67-rated servo drives that saves as much as 80% in cabling. The power supply, as well as safety and fieldbus communications, are combined in a single hybrid cable only 11 mm in diameter for reduced panel size.
  • PCMM™ Standalone Motion Controller is a compact, easy-to-use multi-axis controller with complete PLC motion control and functionality. The PCMM also offers superior scalability with coordinated control of up to 128 axes. Communication options include TCP/IP, MODBUS®, EthernetIP®, PROFINET® to host PLC, computer or network.

Additional Kollmorgen motors with food/beverage and packaging applications (among many others) include the TBM™ (Torquer Brushless Motor) and KBM™ Series frameless motors, designed for high power and performance in a compact space. Both the TBM and KBM Series can be directly embedded in the machine, using the machine’s own bearings to support the rotor. The PMDC (Permanent Magnet DC Motor) uses permanent magnets to enable a lighter, more compact and efficient motor with a wider speed range an exceptionally linear speed/torque curve. For harsh environments, Kollmorgen offers explosion proof motors and the expertise to help machine builders meet the requirements for ATEX certification.

Visitors to booth N-5908 can enjoy playing an exciting game of Servo Boxing and learn how its technology benefits the processing and packaging industry.

Visitors may also see a preview of the new AKM®2G, coming in 2017. The AKM 2G offers excellent torque speed performance in a significantly small motor, which enables machine builders to decrease machine size.
