Permanent Magnet Servo Motor and Induction Motor Considerations

Although two motors may appear to be able to do the job related to torque, speed and thermal considerations, choosing one technology over the other should be approached with intrinsic knowledge of each.

When deciding on the use of permanent magnet servo motors or induction motor systems, dynamic performance, torque density, inertia matching and control schemes must be taken in consideration.

Download our free white paper for a detailed discussion to assist in discerning one technology over the other.

Getting the Best Performance from Encoders

Often times confusion exists regarding encoder performance and automation systems that have servo drives or variable frequency drives (VFD).

Does providing the best in class encoder lead to a highly accurate system? This may sound somewhat logical but, not so fast, there are other important points to consider.

Learn more about getting the best performance from encoders from Kollmorgen Senior Application Engineer, Mahendra Kane's blog.
