Kollmorgen Motors Shrunk in Kuka Robots

Kuka's compact robots in the KR Agilus series are agile systems that feature short cyle times and high repeatability, particularly for pick-and-place tasks.
Synchronous servo motors from Kollmorgen play a major role in achieving the high performance and precision required in the KR Agilus robots.

Through collaborative co-engineering, the two companies were able to reduce the installation volume of the motors compared to standard models, implement robot-specific applications and optimize the entire supply chain

Learn how the smallest AKM™ servo motor, already very small from the start, was customized and made even thinner to fit compactly into the wrist joint of the robot without compromising performance or quality.

Connect an AKD® Servo Drive to a RSLogix™ Controller in Three Easy Steps!

Kollmorgen has released a new video demonstrating 3 easy steps to connect a Kollmorgen AKD Servo Drive through Ethernet /IP using a Rockwell Automation® RSLogix™.

This brief but informative video also highlights the ease of integrating a Kollmorgen AKD drive with a Rockwell Automation® PLC system.

Additional competitive conversion information can be found on Kollmorgen’s Developer Network (KDN) and on Kollmorgen’s Competitive Conversion Kit website page. This page is an excellent sales tool for you.  It provides sample programs for integrating with Rockwell Automation® and compliments the video below. It also offers side by side comparison (drawings and specs) to guide your customer’s conversion.

This is a great time to evaluate the depth and breadth of Kollmorgen’s AKM™ Servo Motor solutions along with the AKD Servo Drive’s advanced performance and troubleshooting capabilities. Don’t let your motor and drive dictate your machine design; take advantage of the flexibility and torque density of Kollmorgen’s AKM Servo Motor solutions.

Durable and Hygienic Machinery Components for Food Processing and Packaging Applications

The food processing and packing industry plays a major role in food safety and making sure the final product is safe and secure for the consumer.

Food safety is a serious requirement and it presents significant challenges for manufacturers.

Motion controls, electrical motors and gearboxes are integral to the development of highly effective and efficient machinery in the food processing and packaging industry.

However, the selection of electrical components for use in wash-down environments has been limited, leading to the use of components that failed prematurely and were difficult to clean. This white paper expands upon the limitations found in many machinery components and their designs while presenting rich insight and more robust alternative solutions.
