VMC 20 Master Controller

The VMC20 is a general-purpose controller for electric vehicles that communicate using the CANopen protocol. With its analog and digital I/O and communications capabilities, the VMC20 is well suited for managing truck motion, I/O, operator controls and displays in automated guided vehicles, lift trucks, material handling applications, and outdoor power and construction equipment.

  • Ruggedly designed for electric vehicle environments, with protection against water (IP54) and physical damage
  • Integral mounting flanges and a single 42 pin connector simplify installation (extra 16-pin connector optionally available)
  • 6 analog inputs and up to 17 full-voltage digital inputs accommodate a wide spectrum of truck controls and sensors
  • Up to 15 power outputs with current feedback allow precise, current-controlled operation of proportional hydraulic valves and other devices requiring variable current
  • PWM (pulse width modulated) outputs save energy and extend actuator life, providing adjustable pull-in and holding current levels
  • Programmable firmware supports typical truck management functions, such as battery discharge monitor, truck speed proportional steering, and mast height proportional speed limiting
  • Wide operating voltage from 24 to 80 V, with built-in undervoltage, overvoltage and reverse polarity protection
  • Freewheeling diode, overload protection, short circuit protection and open load detection
  • Standard CANopen interface for simple and reliable communications
  • Support for service, diagnostics and downloading of software using our Truck Service Tool
  • Can be used as the master in a complete CANopen-based electric vehicle system, or as a slave unit to expand I/O
